WHAT IS EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL?

Early College High School is a unique and fantastic opportunity for students to earn a high school diploma and an Associate Degree simultaneously! Students who attend ECHS may still participate in extracurricular activities, obtain CTE certifications, take advanced placement courses, and even participate in clubs and organizations. Upon graduation, students have the option to transfer to a 4-year university to earn a Bachelor’s degree or begin an exciting career of their choice!

The application for the 2025-2026 school year will be open on January 7th and will close on January 21st, 2025. All current 8th-grade students are invited to apply.

Admission Requirements

Students interested in being in the ECHS program must submit their application no later than the closing date (January 21st).
ECHS is open to all 8th grade FMS and SES students who have a growth mindset, are not afraid to accept a challenge, and are willing to commit to a four-year program.
Parents are an important part of the process and need to demonstrate their support by granting permission, completing the parent questions on the application, and attending follow up ECHS informational meetings if their child is picked in the lottery.
There are no prerequisites to be admitted into the ECHS program.

Benchmark 1 - School Design

Benchmark 2 - Partnership

"The Early College High School (ECHS) must have a current, signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) or interlocal agreement (ILA) with each Institution of Higher Education (IHE) that outlines key issues related to the planning, implementation, and sustainability of the ECHS program. Benchmark 3 - Target Population

"The Early College High School (ECHS) shall target and enroll historically underserved students. The campus must enable students who are at risk of dropping out or those who wish to accelerate completion of high school to combine high school courses and college-level courses.

Benchmark 4 - Academic Infrastructure
